Ladies and Gentlemen on 12 January 2019 at 2pm, the American Legion District 8, District Oratorical Competition was held at Cape Fear Botanical Garden, 536 N Eastern Blvd, Fayetteville, NC 28301
The opportunity to experience two young person of Fayettville present their oration for the District Oratorical Competition was enlightening.
Thank you to everyone for getting to the venue to experience the young and upcoming talent in our America.
Bless each and everyone that participated in the event. Make each life prosper in result of something learned or heard on that day. May we be encourage to continue and support our youth in any and all of their future endeavors.

Duncan Harling was the 1st place winner of this years competition. His oration title was “The 19th Amendment” – Duncan attends Jack Britt High School, and he represented American Legion Post 32 in this years competition. Duncan returned this year from last year where he did not win. He sharpened his talents and came back this year and became District 8 Oratorical Competition. It was not easy for him this year just like last year. He didn’t give up and it paid off for him. Duncan had the support from his mom Ms. Michele Harling and the Post he represented. Congratulations Duncan M. Harling – American Legion District 8, District Oratorical winner.
Jared Danaher was the 2nd place winner. Jared’s oration title was “Making Our Constitution Alive” – Jared attends Village Christian Academy and is a Senior this year, he represented American Legion Post 525 in this years competition. Both of the speakers performed well, their research was sharp and presentation was a learning experience. Jared had the support of his mom Ms. Wendy Danaher, his History teacher (Ms. Shon McAteer) along with the Post he represents. Congratulations Jared Danaher – American Legion District 8, District Oratorical 2nd place winner.
The American Legion Riders Chapter presence is seen throughout the community. Their next event is scheduled towards a worthy cause Saturday, October 27, 2018. The rides registration starts at 7am – We ask that you be there or be nowhere.
American Legion Post 202 Bike Nite for the month of September 2018 is slowly approaching. It’s every 1st Wednesday of the month scheduled from 6pm – 11pm. If any changes it will be published.
So, all are welcome to come out for this event. Put it on your calendar. Everything is made ready for you to come out and enjoy yourself with the opportunity to see plenty of well crafted motorcycles of all makes, models and styles along with the many riders. For a short time you can come out and get entertained on that day. Hope to see you there.
